Genres

Genres can be confusing, as some books fit more than one Genre.

Here are a list of different Genres that Amy's Bookshelf Reviews uses to categorize books. This list may help you figure out what your genre is when it is not just fiction or nonfiction. The word "Genre" actually refers to a "type or sort" of communication in any mode, such as written, spoken, digital, or artistic. In this case, the genre refers to literature (print, digital, and audiobook). Amy's Bookshelf Reviews does not want genres to be descriptions of tropes or character types. Just the theme, topic or genre of the book. Not all genres will have a sub-genre.

When a book has multiple genres, think of which genres are more prevalent than others. Example A historical western book that has minor romance. It would just be Historical Western.

Some genre categories fit both nonfiction and fiction.
