Showcase: Bianca Chambers Carter

Rashawnda Ungerer nominated Bianca Chambers Carter as an Indie Author who deserves appreciation and acknowledgement of her work. I am pleased to present this author a showcase blog post.

Author Bio:

Bianca Chambers Carter born in London, England to Jamaican parents immigrated to the US in 1989. Carter began writing as a way to deal with the transition of the move. She immersed herself in American culture and became a huge Hip Hop fan. Carter connected with the way emcees cleverly rhymed over rhythmic beats and their creativity mesmerized her. Carter began to research poets; she read all the greats from Dickinson, Plath, Whitman, Hughes to Angelou. But it wasn’t until she came across a poem titled Homage to my Hips by Lucille Clifton did she believe she had any talent. By her freshmen year at George Mason University Carter was writing poetry. She participated in several talent showcases, open mics, creative writing workshops, and cultural programs that led to her becoming affectionately known as Queen Bea the Spoken Word Poet. After college Carter continued to write but her focus shifted to her career in Conference Planning.

Books:

After 10 years of a self-imposed retirement, Bianca Chambers Carter decided to self-publish her first collection titled The Bea Side, which is available at Amazon.com. The Bea Side is an introspective collection of poetry that deals with a woman’s desire for love, acceptance, respect, and passion while on a journey of self-awareness.
