3 Stars Interesting plot

I was caught immediately into the plot from the gripping first chapter. I thought the book was all right, and the characters were interesting, but it could have a little more intensity and drama. I enjoyed the story but there were a few minor issues that I couldn't overlook. The writer was able to pull together scenes and the characters were interesting enough, but not very likeable, but that could have been the author's intent. The dialog was a little hokey and maybe a bit too modern for the era of the apothecary. Good story all together.
