The Stumps of Flattop Hill by Kenneth Lamug

5 Stars Triumphantly scary

It's not scary in a horrifying way, but scary and fun for kids. It's a book for kids, and says its for preschool age, but maybe it should be for kids a little older. I read the book and then went back and read it aloud, which made it more powerful. Amazing prose that tells a story, and brings the reader in the imaginative work of art. "Shadows chasing, heart racing, pulse thumping to the core, until a gasp of air released her, falling ..." The graphics were amazing, shown in black and white, which adds to the quaint scariness of the story. Florence is a character you soon won't forget.
