The Family: The Brotherhood by Donte M McNeal

Intense

It takes a minute, but only that to grab the reader and entice it. But it does. It's raw and gritty and takes the reader to a place that may not be so accessible.

Living in a world that only sees violence, corruption and poverty, Leone wants to do the right thing. The reader sees the backstory and how it reflects and affects the present, which gives a enough of an understanding. The characters are created with depth but there is a lot of different perspectives. It works well for the story in some cases, and in other cases it gets lost. It's a great read, and even if you're not sure if the story is something you'd like, you can't put it down until the end, which is unpredictable and fitting for the story.
