I am very comfortable promoting other authors, and doing what I can to support them. I run Amy's Bookshelf Reviews, and review books of any genre from any author (and I've even branched out to Indie music, and other book-related items). Reviews also helps promote authors.
I'm comfortable promoting my own work, too, but maybe I should promote it more than I do. I don't want to barrage the readership with promos that all say "buy me! buy me!" That's not who I am or what I do. I do like inviting people to read my work, by sharing snippets of my work, hopefully enticing someone to read.
Where I may be known for my reviews, I hope to also be known for my stories. My stories are a part of who I am. If I try to just "sell" me, I wonder if that is being selfish. I try never to be selfish. I help others when I can, I take care of those who need it, and I also like to write. I use it as an outlet, as a way of getting my stories out of my head. I write on the computer, I write in notebooks, which I have with me, wherever I go.
I enjoy each story that I've written. I sometimes write more than one story at a time, and I love to challenge myself in my writing. I love to read as well. I read classics. I read anything authors send me to read and review. I read stories from authors like James Patterson, Alan Alda (yes, he's a writer, too), Kathy Reichs, and much more. I also read my own work, for a few reasons, one I enjoy the storylines, two, to prepare for another sequel or volume in the series, and three, to see where my writing can improve.
As a writer, writing can always improve. I learn or look to learn new ways to improve what I write, how I create characters, and open myself to new genres.
A lot of "I" statements here, and I guess that's where my selfishness comes in. I do hope you enjoy my stories, and if you haven't yet, take a peek at some that you may just enjoy.
My books are sold on Amazon (Print and Kindle), and some are sold on Smashwords.
