Jerry Pociask was nominated as an Indie Author who deserves appreciation and acknowledgement of his work. I am pleased to present this author a showcase blog post. Jerry had two books that were listed on this blog’s “Best Indie Books of 2017” (Grandma, Me and Tree and Hidden Lives Anthology).
Author Bio:
A Life Coach with over 10,000 hours, Jerry worked with the developmentally disabled and returning Iraq/Viet Nam
military veterans. His experience taught him some of the simple things which bring meaning to one’s life.
A term as Chairman of the Board for the Grand Traverse Boys and Girls Club in northern Michigan allowed him an opportunity to work with local native tribes, fueling his affinity for native spirituality. It was there he was honored with an Ojibwa name which translates to, "He who sees clearly."
Jerry's first book titled, "Call Me Grandpa," explored reflections on being a father and then the prospect of being a grandfather. "Grandma, Me and Tree," expanded these thoughts on Native and Celtic lore beliefs and the defining connections between man and nature.
"Hidden Lives" is an anthology. Three short stories about growing up in a large city, a romance during WWII and finally an entry into sacred prophecy. The content is as eclectic as the author. The best and easiest way to describe the books content is to read it and you be the judge!

“When I was a little cub, my momma was teaching me and my brother how to search for food before the winter would come. Hunters were all over the woods and momma was very careful to try and stay away from the men. One day my brother and I were playing when we hear momma say “Hushie, someone is coming! It is probably hunters. Run and hide now!”
The hunter’s drove an old truck back into the woods and parked. “Quickly!” Momma said. “Run!”
“My brother ran to a hollowed-out log to hide, but I was curious why momma was so afraid of these men, so I hid in the bushes instead to watch them closer up.”
Tears began streaming down from Nita’s huge brown eyes.
“As one of the hunters climbed down from his seat, I must have had my head up too high because he spotted me.”
“Come on!” I heard him yell to the other hunter.
“Before I realized what was going on, I was surrounded by the hunters and their dogs. One grabbed the scruff of my neck and the other my hind legs. I fought and kicked but I couldn’t get away.”
“Momma I yelled, but now she was trying to protect and hide my brother.”
Nita went on telling the story of how the hunters put her in the dog cage, then as they drove off her momma and brother stood on the side of the dirt road and watched as she was driven away in the back of the truck.

Final Thought …
I always appreciate hearing from my readers. Good, bad or indifferent, I listen and try to understand the impact of my words. NOT to change my style. Just to understand!

"Call me Grandpa by Jerry Pociask
5 Stars
Powerful & Inspirational This book is a powerful and inspirational story of a soon-to-be grandfather. I have read Pociask's work before and am very impressed with his writing style and how he tells a story. The lessons are something that any parent or grandparent or anyone who is soon to be taking care of a child can learn from. Infinite words of wisdom and the journey or discussion that one would have with the night sky is something that the reader carries with them. It's full of faith and continuous faith, and a must read for anyone. Especially those soon to be a grandfather. Absolutely loved it! "
