Amy's Bookshelf Reviews: Year in Review 2021

2021 is at its end, and it has been a very busy year. It's not only a busy year, but a year that many of us will never forget. And for many areas, the pandemic is still in full force, even creating more variants of Covid-19. I'm hoping the 19 doesn't stand for years.

As you may know, I am the one and only reviewer on this website, and I have done my best to keep up with the long lines of requests. I accept about 97% of the requests that are made, and these are those that request the proper way, give proper information, and the book is "publish-ready."

I was diagnosed with a functional brain disorder, that affects my whole body. It is a disorder that mimics Parkinson's, and Dementia, as well as Essential Tremor Disorder, so I've been doing what I can to focus on the things that I can do. My final book. A Legacy of Words: My Final Chapter was just released on amazon in paperback and hardcover https://www.amazon.com/Legacy-Words-Chapter-collection-thoughts/dp/0557964911

The After Show with McKensie Stewart and Amy Shannon podcast has a growing audience, and we added a second podcast, After The After Show, where we talk about today's hot topics. We are the literary dynamic duo! Look for specials, like our Marketing Palooza, where we are accepting signups until January 5 for January 7th's show. Sign up at https://wetheaftershow.wixsite.com/home/marketing-palooza

Amy's Library now offers several different types of bookshelves, and repeat author's titles were changed to "Legacy Authors" and our "repeat representatives" were changed to Legacy Friends. Amy's Library has changed, and now there are new bookshelves, and some can "purchase" an always position on a particular shelf. https://writeramyshannon.wixsite.com/bookshelfreviews/amys-tbr

I have a Top Ten Books of 2021 that I add to during the year, and the final Top Ten books of are: DreamRovers 3: Hearts of Deliverance C. Valentine Powell, The Killing Moon R. Glenn, Life After: The Line of Duty B. Way, Over the Hedge P. Mahurin, The Cabin Sessions I. Blackthorn, Masters' Promise J. Schulz, Population Zero F. Lewis, A Salted Slug J. King, Organic eMotions: Poetry for hUmaNITY L. Love, Servant of the Lesser Good S. Stevens.

I also have a Top Twenty Authors of 2021 that I add to throughout the year, and the final top twenty authors: Christie Valentine Powell, Rod Glenn, Joanne Patterson, Paulette Mahurin, Vanessa Morgan, Jamie Schulz, Joe King, Lori Robbins, Phil Hore, McKensie Stewart, R Weir, SM McCoy, Bryan Way, Isobel Blackthorn, Jeff Russell, Sianah Nalika DeShield, Daniel McMillan, Bil Richardson, Niranjan K, R. H. Dixon.

On January 1, the lists that are dependent on years, will be reset to 0. Not all lists are year dependent.

Each author can request a banner to use promoting them to use for their own website. Banner colors change from year to year. Legacy Authors and Legacy friends can request a Legacy badge for themselves, if they haven't already, and can request that their name be added to the badge.

"Featured Book of the Month" remains on my blog, updated every month, which is a randomly selected (it's very technical) book from the previous month, will be featured on this page: http://writeramyshannon.wixsite.com/bookshelfreviews/featured-bom

Policy Updates: Visitors can download a copy of the request and review policies and the donation's policy in a PDF document, which is updated as the policies get updated. I have also added the spreadsheet to the website, so the most recent one can be updated. If you get a 5 Star Review, you are entitled to get an Amy's Bookshelf Reviews bookmark, which I created. Also, if you get 4 or 5 stars, you get a quoted graphic for your use.

We have our Special lists, which include:

Link to Enchanting Children's authors (children to YA titles): https://writeramyshannon.wixsite.com/bookshelfreviews/childrens-authors

Link to Awesome Audiobooks: (New to 2021)

Link to Charitable Books (New to 2021)

And our new lists for 2022 are:

And of course, the new addition of Banned, Burned or Challenged Book list https://writeramyshannon.wixsite.com/bookshelfreviews/list-of-banned-burned-and-challenged and many of those books will be bought by me (or donated by other authors) so I can also read and review them. There is that new list on Amy's Library.

Donations can be made for many different reasons, and a donation does NOT buy a review. All donations get a free gift (a book of mine), no matter the donation about. Donations do help me keep this blog running, and allow me to provide more for the authors I review for. I am also accepting donations to buy banned books, or am accepting books via the mail that are part of the banned book lists. The books that are highlighted, are the ones I already have.

Amy's Bookshelf Reviews also now has a YouTube channel, and authors can buy "video reviews."

Final Tally for 2021

The final tally for POSTED reviews for 2021 is 362. In 2021, there were 5 3-Star Reviews, 154 4-Star Reviews, and 203 5-Star Reviews. There were a few milestones that were hit this year:

For all authors that had a release in 2021 congratulations. For any author who will have a release in 2022 get your requests in now for release reviews (Quick Response Reviews). New and repeat authors accepted, as well as any author representative.

To date, I have reviewed over 2277 books for 1417 authors, and I have 420 Legacy Authors.

Happy New Year, and a warm welcome (or cold, depending on where you live), to 2022, and I hope to read more of your work. This is my eighth year of reviews, and I don't plan on stopping at any time soon. If you write, write. If you want to write, do it. If you write it, I'll read it, if you'll let me.

Oh, yes, and make note that Amy's Bookshelf Reviews email address has changed to amysbookshelfreviews@gmail.com
